New Delhi, 13 November (Udaipur Kiran). With the change in weather, issues like cold, cough and persistent phlegm become common. In such conditions, simple Ayurvedic home remedies are considered safe and effective for long-lasting relief. The Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, also recommends several natural methods to manage recurring phlegm and cough.
According to the ministry, regularly following these remedies helps control phlegm from its root. One of the most effective solutions is ginger–tulsi kadha. Prepared by boiling fresh ginger and tulsi leaves in water, this kadha helps thin the phlegm and provides quick relief from throat irritation. Drinking it twice daily eases mucus expulsion. Another traditional remedy is warm turmeric milk before bedtime. Turmeric contains curcumin with anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties that help clear the lungs and boost immunity.
Triphala churna is also known to help control phlegm. Taking one teaspoon of Triphala with lukewarm water at night keeps the digestive system healthy and reduces phlegm buildup. It supports internal cleansing as well. For instant relief from cough and throat discomfort, a combination of cloves and honey works effectively. Chewing 2–3 cloves with honey two to three times a day eases throat irritation. Cloves contain eugenol, which reduces infection and inflammation.
One of the simplest methods is drinking warm water throughout the day. Sipping lukewarm water at intervals helps thin the phlegm, making it easier for the body to clear it naturally. This remedy is effective and costs nothing.
