Support for Baba Ramdevs Remarks from Saints on Muslim Ancestry

Saints in Haridwar back Baba Ramdevs claim that Indian Muslims are descendants of Hindus, citing historical conversions.

Haridwar, October 1 (Udaipur Kiran) : Baba Ramdev’s assertion that all Muslims in India are converts has garnered support from various saints in Haridwar. Mahamandaleshwar Karoli Shankar Mahadev affirmed Ramdev’s statement, claiming that the ancestors of the Muslim community in India were Hindus who converted due to historical circumstances.

Shankar Mahadev criticized certain Muslim leaders, like Asaduddin Owaisi, for misleading their community and focusing solely on political interests rather than development and social welfare. He emphasized that the Muslim population in both India and Pakistan originally stemmed from Hindu society, suggesting that conversions occurred under pressure or fear during historical times.

He urged the Muslim community to be cautious of leaders who misguide them, noting that they are becoming more educated and aware, which could diminish the influence of such figures. He highlighted that the goal of Sanatan Dharma is to promote respect for all saints, social harmony, humanity, and compassion.

In a similar vein, BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj reiterated that the Muslim community in India did not originate from places like Mecca or Medina but rather from Hindu ancestry. He acknowledged that conversions have occurred throughout history due to various pressures, including fear of violence or death. However, he expressed optimism that as time progresses, people will gain a better understanding of their roots, potentially leading to a process of “homecoming.”
