Bengal Police Interrogates Woman Posing as PMO Official in Delhi

Kolkata, October 1 (Udaipur Kiran) : A special investigation team from the Howrah City Police in West Bengal arrived in Delhi on Thursday to interrogate a woman who allegedly impersonated a Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) official to gain access to the state secretariat, Nabanna, in Kolkata.

Authorities first learned of the woman’s presence in Delhi on Wednesday evening. Following this, Howrah police reached out to their Delhi counterparts and arrived in the national capital that same night.

The woman is currently in the custody of Delhi police, where Howrah City Police officials are conducting the interrogation. Investigators are trying to determine her true motives for posing as a PMO official to enter the state secretariat.

According to a police official, the investigation is also looking into whether the woman is part of an organized gang. She has been identified as Aakansha Vidyarthi and had previously secured an appointment to visit the state Public Works Department (PWD) at Nabanna.

It is alleged that she questioned PWD officials about their operations and procedures while claiming to be a PMO officer. However, some officials grew suspicious of her identity. Realizing their doubts, she quickly exited the Nabanna premises.

After confirming that she had misrepresented herself, the PWD filed a written complaint with the Howrah City Police, but by then, the woman had already flown back to Delhi.

The Howrah police are treating the matter seriously, suspecting that there may be a larger organized effort behind her actions, and are investigating this angle as well.
