New Delhi, 13 November (Udaipur Kiran). While many people worry about rapid weight gain, some struggle with the opposite problem — not gaining weight even after overeating. Such individuals often lose weight quickly during illness, which becomes a constant concern. Ayurveda offers natural ways to balance weight by improving digestion and nutrient absorption.

According to Ayurveda, persistent thinness or weakness indicates weak digestive fire and a lack of essential nutrients in the body. When digestion is weak, nutrients from food do not reach the cells properly, leading to weakness. Strengthening digestion and relieving issues like constipation is essential before attempting to gain weight.
Dietary adjustments play a key role in overcoming thinness. Begin the morning with lukewarm water mixed with lemon and honey to boost metabolism. For breakfast, a shake made from banana, dates and figs provides protein and healthy fats.
For lunch, include dal, more vegetables and fewer rotis. At night, consume a light but nutritious meal like soup or porridge. Before sleeping, drink milk with one teaspoon of ghee. Homemade chhena is also helpful as it increases blood levels and reduces weakness.
Ayurveda recommends several powders to support weight gain. Consuming ashwagandha with milk at night helps strengthen muscles and gradually increases weight. A combination of ghee, mishri and banana also supports weight gain; it is advisable to use thread-like mishri. Taking any form of chyawanprash further improves digestion. A herbal drink made from milk, cardamom, dates, almonds and saffron is also considered effective for quick weight gain.
