Jharkhand Government Has No Choice but to Approach Supreme Court: Pratul Shahdev

Ranchi, October 2 (Udaipur Kiran) : BJP leader Pratul Shahdev has voiced strong opinions regarding the MMDR Act, stating that the Jharkhand government has no alternative but to approach the Supreme Court. Speaking in Ranchi, Shahdev emphasized the need for adherence to the Constitution, laws, and Supreme Court directives, particularly concerning major minerals, which he affirmed fall under central government jurisdiction.

He pointed out that the Supreme Court has made it clear that once the central government or legislative assembly enacts a law, the state government loses its rights over the remaining provisions. Shahdev criticized the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) for their discomfort with the new regulations, suggesting that their concerns are not about revenue loss but rather about the stringent measures against illegal mining included in the MMDR Act. He noted that illegal mining has created a parallel economy in Jharkhand, and he urged the state government to recognize that they have no other options but to comply with the law or seek recourse from the Supreme Court.

In addition, Shahdev discussed the state’s ambitious goal of becoming Naxal-free within three months, attributing progress to the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and the guidance of Home Minister Amit Shah. He mentioned that peace has been established in areas like Dantewada and Bastar, and he welcomed the Jharkhand police’s efforts to neutralize remaining Naxal commanders.

On the topic of the JSSC CGL examination, Shahdev expressed concerns over allegations of paper leaks. He noted that while the state government initially denied any wrongdoing, pressure from student protests led to a CID investigation. Despite the CID’s initial claims of no paper leak, they later acknowledged the existence of significant issues, which he believes has shattered the dreams of countless students over the past year and a half.
