Youth Should Look Up to National Heroes, Says Governor Kavindra Gupta

Shimla, October 2 (Udaipur Kiran) : A special event was held in Shimla on October 2 to commemorate the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. The gathering was attended by notable figures including Governor Kavindra Gupta, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, Leader of the Opposition Jairam Thakur, and former state Congress president Pratibha Singh, who paid tribute to both leaders.

During the event, Governor Gupta emphasized the significant contributions of Mahatma Gandhi to the freedom movement, highlighting his message of “Ahimsa Paramo Dharma.” He remarked that Gandhi’s commitment to uniting all sections of society during the struggle for independence and raising awareness about self-rule remains relevant today.

The governor also reflected on Shastri’s leadership during the 1965 war, noting his famous slogan “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan,” and praised his exemplary simplicity and integrity, which continue to inspire the nation. Both leaders, he stated, serve as role models for the youth of India.

In a passionate appeal to the younger generation, Gupta urged them to familiarize themselves with the history and contributions of true national heroes and great personalities. He highlighted the importance of learning about figures like Maharana Pratap, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, and Guru Gobind Singh, whose sacrifices played a crucial role in protecting India’s freedom and culture.

He firmly stated that those who invaded or oppressed India can never be considered ideals for the nation. It is essential for future generations to understand the sacrifices made for the country’s independence and heritage.
