Chandigarh, May 4: Punjab Assembly’s Opposition Leader Pratap Singh Bajwa has accused Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann of ignoring his advice. In a post on X, Bajwa stated, “You sought my counsel in the Assembly, and I provided it in good faith. However, you have disregarded it and challenged the High Court’s order regarding employees’ dearness allowance (DA).”
Bajwa has issued a stern warning to Chief Minister Mann, demanding the release of employees’ salaries. He wrote, “Another point: Punjab government employees have yet to receive their April salaries. It would be appropriate for your government to release their salaries within the next 48 hours. Your Finance Minister claims that GST collections and revenue records are at an all-time high, so why are those who run this government still waiting for their rightful salaries?”
Previously, Bajwa commented on several Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MPs joining the BJP, stating that the internal rift within AAP has exposed the party’s true nature. He noted that these developments have reaffirmed old concerns that AAP’s politics in Punjab is more driven by internal competition for access to the state treasury than by governance.
Congress MLA Bajwa mentioned that Raghav Chadha claimed he could not remain a part of the ongoing misconduct within the party, while Chief Minister Mann alleged that Chadha and others left because they were not allowed to engage in corruption.
Bajwa emphasized that when both sides accuse each other of corruption, the truth eventually surfaces. He remarked that this conflict has never been about ideology; it has always revolved around the planned looting of Punjab’s government treasury.
He further accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of playing a role in this entire episode, which he termed as “bargaining the people’s mandate.” Bajwa stated that central investigative agencies have allegedly been used to trace illegally amassed assets, but instead of ensuring justice, it appears that this information is being used to pressure individuals and politically coerce them.
