Mumbai, May 4: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is poised to form its first government in West Bengal, as initial counts from the assembly elections indicate a significant majority for the party. The Trinamool Congress (TMC), led by Mamata Banerjee, appears to be losing power after a long tenure in the state. Meanwhile, the BJP is also set to return to power in Assam for the third consecutive time, creating a wave of joy among NDA allies. Eknath Shinde, the Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) leader, expressed his happiness over the results.
Shinde took to social media platform X to declare, “Today is a historic day for the BJP. The lotus has bloomed for the first time in West Bengal. Under the leadership of our popular Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP has served Mamata didi a ‘jalmudi’ of defeat. The people, tired of goondaism and corruption, have truly established democracy in West Bengal. They have voted for development, progress, stability, and peace. This year marks the centenary of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, and the BJP’s victory in the birthplace of the revered Syama Prasad Mukherjee is historic in every sense.”
The Deputy Chief Minister further stated, “Union Minister Amit Shah has tirelessly worked over the past decade to dismantle Mamata didi’s stronghold. Amit Shah has proven once again to be the Chanakya of the BJP. All party workers have fought resolutely against oppression. Therefore, congratulations to all BJP workers. During this election campaign, Mamata didi made extremely low-level criticisms of the BJP, PM Modi, and Amit Shah. The public has given a strong rebuttal to this criticism through the EVMs. Now, the BJP government will respond to that criticism through comprehensive development in West Bengal. A new era of development is beginning in West Bengal under BJP leadership, and the double-engine government will certainly accelerate the development bullet train.”
In another post on X, Eknath Shinde wrote, “The blessings of Kali Ma of West Bengal and Kamakhya Devi of Assam have been bestowed upon the BJP. The declaration that ‘victory in Assam is easy, only BJP is the identity’ has once again proven true. The BJP is returning to power in Assam for the third consecutive time. The citizens of Assam have once again placed their trust in the vision of our popular Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. The public has expressed confidence in Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma’s development policies and actions. Therefore, congratulations to my friend Himanta Biswa Sarma as well.”
