‘Observe Ekadashi Fast and Resolve to Overcome Inner Weaknesses’: Prashant Agrawal

Udaipur : Fasting is not merely about giving up food, but about resolving to give up the weaknesses that make a person mentally and spiritually weaker. Ekadashi provides an opportunity for self-control and self-purification. Speaking at Narayan Seva Sansthan’s ‘Apno Se Apni Baat’ programme, Sansthan president Prashant Agrawal shared messages on making life simpler, disciplined and meaningful through mythological stories associated with Ekadashi.

Referring to the story of the demon Mura and Ekadashi Devi, Agrawal said the story inspires people to overcome not only external enemies but also anger, ego and negativity hidden within the mind. Referring to the story of Maharishi Medha, he highlighted the importance of controlling anger and urged those present to take a pledge not to become angry.

He said true devotion is reflected not merely in worship but also in a person’s behaviour.

Stay Firm on Principles

Referring to the story of King Rukmangad and Mohini, Agrawal highlighted the importance of remaining firm on one’s principles and advised people not to make promises without giving them complete thought.

He said that regardless of circumstances, a person should remain committed to their values and continuously strive to improve themselves.

335 Divyangjan Receive Artificial Limbs

Prashant Agrawal also mentioned the Narayan Modular Artificial Limb Fitment Camp held in Ahmedabad, where 335 Divyangjan received artificial limbs, along with a new sense of hope, confidence and an opportunity to move forward.

Expressing his heartfelt gratitude to everyone associated with the service initiative through the camp and the live programme, he said every contribution to this ‘yagya of service’ can bring new light into someone’s life.

He said efforts made for the happiness and welfare of others make life meaningful.

Ekadashi and Self-Control

Agrawal said that from a spiritual perspective, Ekadashi is also associated with exercising control over the five sense organs, five organs of action and the mind — the 11 aspects of human functioning.

Therefore, he said, the real meaning of Ekadashi is not merely staying away from food for a day, but controlling one’s speech, thoughts, anger, desires and actions while making service, philanthropy and good conduct a part of life.

He said the effort should always be directed towards changing oneself, because real improvement begins from within.
