New Delhi, September 3: Congress leader Rashid Alvi has raised questions regarding the CJP’s decision to withdraw the proposed protest on September 5. In an exclusive conversation with a news agency, Alvi stated that the organization must clarify to the public why it suddenly decided to call off the protest after receiving support from the opposition. He emphasized that withdrawing the protest without explanation raises doubts about the organization’s credibility.
Alvi questioned the rationale behind the withdrawal, noting that when the protest was announced and supported by opposition parties, there should be a clear reason for its cancellation. He asserted that if political motives are at play, the public deserves to know the reasoning behind such decisions. “Announcing a protest one day and retracting it the next is not a normal political process; it creates suspicion among the people,” he remarked.
He further criticized the BJP and its government for employing various political tactics, suggesting that the withdrawal of the protest only heightens skepticism. Alvi urged the CJP to clarify the reasons and circumstances that led to the decision to cancel the September 5 protest.
When asked if there is any coordination between the CJP and the BJP, Alvi refrained from making direct claims but reiterated that it is the CJP’s responsibility to explain the reasons for withdrawing the protest. He highlighted that the most pressing issue is not the alleged coordination but rather the need for transparency regarding the withdrawal.
Alvi pointed out that if the CJP has certain conditions that the BJP is accepting, the organization should specify which conditions have been met. He noted the contradiction in the BJP praising the CJP while the status of cases against individuals facing FIRs remains unclear.
He also questioned why there is no protest regarding the actions taken against those being arrested or whose families are allegedly being harassed. Alvi warned that if these issues are not addressed, it will further undermine the CJP’s credibility. He called for clarity on why the protest was withdrawn and what stance the organization now holds on the issues that were previously set to be protested.
