Ayodhya, September 4: Saints in Ayodhya have expressed strong discontent over remarks made by Swami Prasad Maurya and Congress leader Imran Masood regarding the Ram Temple. Devesh Acharya, the priest of Hanumangarhi, along with Mahant Sitaram Das of Saket Bhawan and Sant Varun Das, advised both leaders to refrain from commenting on religious matters. They deemed Masood’s comments about former Air Marshal Jitendra Mishra as inappropriate.
Devesh Acharya criticized Swami Prasad Maurya, suggesting that he makes controversial statements to remain relevant in political and social discussions. He labeled Maurya’s remarks as offensive to Sanatan Dharma, urging supporters to oppose him.
Mahant Sitaram Das harshly condemned Maurya’s statements, accusing him of holding a disrespectful view towards Sanatan Dharma. He stated that individuals who do not adhere to Sanatan Dharma should avoid commenting on its religious matters. He questioned Maurya’s understanding of religious faith and traditions.
Sant Varun Das remarked that the saint community does not give importance to Maurya’s statements, suggesting that he seeks media attention through controversial remarks. He referenced Maurya’s past controversies related to the Ramcharitmanas and other religious events, questioning why someone who does not identify as a Hindu should comment on religious issues like the Ram Janmabhoomi. He urged the public to disregard such statements.
The three saints also expressed their displeasure over Imran Masood’s comments related to the Ram Temple and former Air Marshal Jitendra Mishra. Devesh Acharya accused Masood of lacking adequate knowledge about Hinduism and its traditions. He emphasized that Masood should gather information before making comments on religious topics. He defended Jitendra Mishra, stating that using derogatory language towards a military officer who has served the nation is inappropriate. He expressed hope that Mishra, now appointed as the CEO of the Ram Temple Trust, would enhance the temple’s management.
Mahant Sitaram Das described Masood’s statement as condemnable and unfortunate, recalling the Congress party’s previous political stance on the Ram Temple issue. He advised political leaders to limit their comments to their own religious matters and use respectful language towards the beliefs and traditions of other religions.
Sant Varun Das reiterated that Masood has no right to comment on matters related to the Ram Janmabhoomi and Hindu temples. He stressed that there should be no unnecessary interference in the religious affairs of any faith. Regarding comments about Jitendra Mishra, he noted that the former Air Marshal fulfilled his responsibilities during military service and now holds a significant role in the Ram Temple Trust. Using derogatory language towards a former military officer is seen as disrespectful to the soldiers and their contributions.
