Jaipur, March 1: A man named Uttam Pandey from Sarai Pandepur village in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in a trap operation for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹13 lakh in Sikar district. The operation took place on Saturday, following a complaint lodged on December 30, 2025.
According to ACB Director General Govind Gupta, the complainant alleged that he was defrauded in 2022 by a private company, QFX Private Limited, regarding an investment. The accused contacted the victim, falsely claiming to be associated with the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Chandigarh, and demanded a bribe to remove the victim’s name from the case and provide relief.
Initially, the accused asked for ₹20 lakh, later reducing the amount to ₹15 lakh, and finally agreeing to accept ₹13 lakh. After verifying the complaint, Deputy Superintendent of Police Vijay Singh, under the supervision of Deputy Inspector General of Police Anil Kayal, set up a sting operation on Saturday.
Uttam Pandey was caught red-handed near Hotel Ashok at Kalyan Circle while accepting the bribe. A total of ₹13 lakh was recovered from him, including ₹2 lakh in cash and ₹11 lakh through other means. The operation and subsequent actions are being monitored by ACB’s Additional Director General of Police Smita Srivastava.
A case has been registered against the accused under the relevant provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and further investigations are ongoing.
