New Delhi, May 21: The controversy surrounding Rahul Gandhi’s remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah is intensifying. Alok Kumar, the National President of the Vishva Hindu Parishad, questioned Rahul Gandhi’s choice of words, stating that leaders in constitutional positions should maintain a respectful tone.
In an interview, Kumar emphasized that Gandhi seems to forget his role as the leader of the opposition and the decorum that comes with it. “Shouldn’t respect be shown by addressing PM Modi with ‘ji’? Can we say ‘Narendra Modi says’ instead?” he remarked, recalling how previous opposition leaders like Atal Bihari Vajpayee and L.K. Advani conducted themselves.
Kumar pointed out that earlier leaders used ideal language in public statements, unlike the current trend. He criticized Gandhi for making direct accusations of betrayal and questioned whether the challenges ahead were only for India, citing ongoing tensions between Iran and the U.S. He noted that if the Strait of Hormuz remains closed, it could lead to crises in oil, food, and gas supplies, which is why the Prime Minister has appealed to the nation for some sacrifices.
Addressing Gandhi’s claims of Modi’s mistakes, Kumar asked if the Prime Minister was responsible for the war or the halting of oil movement, asserting that the ongoing issues stem from the egos of two nations.
Kumar also referenced the despair within the Congress party due to its continuous defeats, suggesting that such statements reflect a sense of hopelessness. “If I were to speak in their language, I would say they are empty-headed and rude,” he added.
Regarding allegations that Gandhi is selling the Constitution and disrespecting Ambedkar, Kumar dismissed these claims as the biggest lies, accusing Congress of systematically undermining constitutional institutions. He criticized their attempts to remove the Chief Election Commissioner and judges, stating that tarnishing constitutional bodies harms democracy.
He further addressed accusations against the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), asserting that the organization is thriving and will continue to grow, leaving Congress to face the consequences.
Meanwhile, Vinod Bansal, the National Spokesperson of the Vishva Hindu Parishad, commented on the new government in Kerala, suggesting it aims to survive with a Muslim League mentality. He stated that such remarks indicate Congress is heading towards its final journey, emphasizing that anyone who uses such language towards the Prime Minister is the biggest traitor.
Bansal concluded by criticizing Congress for its perceived betrayal of the nation, saying they are following a jihadist mentality by undermining the very system that sustains them.
