Mumbai, September 6 (Udaipur Kiran) : National Award-winning actor Manoj Bajpayee, who is eagerly anticipating the release of his upcoming film “Last Man in Tower,” shared his thoughts on the concerns actors face regarding age-appropriate roles. Speaking at a promotional event in Andheri West, Mumbai, alongside actress Divya Dutta and director Ben Rekhi, Bajpayee emphasized that age is not a primary concern for actors.
He stated, “Playing a character of a specific age is not something we, as actors, worry about much. Instead, we focus on the layers of the character and the depth it holds. Every character is like an onion, much like humans. Exploring those layers is a challenging task. Each character has a backstory and characterization. Reading the script provides various ideas, which help in creating a backstory filled with gray shades and nuances.”
Bajpayee further explained that an actor’s true work begins during shooting as things unfold in real-time. He noted that actors often need to make small adjustments or change their approach based on the film’s requirements since the story takes shape during the shoot.
He added, “However, while working, you discover many layers. The setting, the energy of co-actors, and how they portray their characters all inspire you to explore more as an actor and performer. The way they treat my character also gives me ideas for adding more layers. It’s an ongoing process; acting never stops. The entire process doesn’t cease before shooting.”
Bajpayee expressed that the journey often leads to unexpected directions, which he finds intriguing. “Initially, it can be daunting to leap into an unknown path. But once you arrive, you start enjoying the experience,” he remarked.
“Last Man in Tower” is set to hit theaters on September 11, 2026.
