Ghaziabad, September 7 (Udaipur Kiran) : Ghaziabad police successfully arrested two suspects wanted in connection with a POCSO case during an encounter on Sunday night. The incident occurred around 10:50 PM in the forests of Khanpur when the police team attempted to check two individuals on a scooter.
According to authorities, the suspects, identified as Gulzar (20) and Ehsan (22), opened fire on the police. In the exchange of gunfire, both men sustained injuries to their legs and were subsequently taken to a hospital for treatment. The police recovered two firearms, cartridges, and a stolen scooter from the suspects.
Assistant Commissioner of Police, Shriram Kishan, stated that a case had been registered on September 4 at the Tronica City police station involving the molestation and rape of two minor girls, for which Gulzar and Ehsan were wanted. Intelligence reports indicated that the suspects were passing through the Khanpur area.
During the police check, the duo attempted to flee upon being signaled to stop, leading to the confrontation. The police responded with return fire, resulting in the suspects being injured. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.
This encounter follows a previous incident on August 30, where the Ghaziabad police engaged in a shootout with criminals in the Loni area, resulting in one suspect being injured while another escaped. Police recovered a firearm, cartridges, a stolen motorcycle, and cash during that encounter.
