New Delhi, September 3: Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Satyendar Jain has been granted bail by the Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi, a decision the party has hailed as a victory for truth. Following the bail, AAP’s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal and Delhi state president Saurabh Bhardwaj criticized the central government, labeling Jain’s arrest as a politically motivated action. They questioned the necessity of his arrest, given that there was no need for questioning in the case.
Kejriwal stated that Jain’s bail was granted after just ten days, indicating the weakness of the case against him. He raised concerns about the arrest process, noting that typically, individuals are taken into police custody for questioning before being sent to judicial custody. However, he alleged that Jain was directly sent to judicial custody without any police questioning. Kejriwal further questioned what the central government gained from Jain’s arrest.
Bhardwaj referred to Jain’s bail as a failure of the BJP’s alleged ‘Operation Punjab,’ claiming that attempts to tarnish the AAP’s image by imprisoning its leaders in false cases to influence the Punjab elections have now failed. He asserted that Jain’s arrest was aimed solely at disrupting the party’s electoral preparations in Punjab.
He dismissed allegations related to a purported tender scam involving the Delhi Jal Board as entirely fabricated. Bhardwaj claimed that similar to the accusations in the alleged excise case, there was no real scam in the Delhi Jal Board matter. He pointed out that investigative agencies have been probing these cases for a long time, and the Enforcement Directorate has completed its investigation and filed a charge sheet in court. Despite this, he accused the Anti-Corruption Bureau of arresting Jain without conducting any police questioning.
Bhardwaj emphasized that Jain was directly sent to Tihar Jail, describing it as an attempt to exert political pressure and disrupt AAP’s organizational work in Punjab. He expressed gratitude to the Rouse Avenue Court for granting bail, referring to Jain as a senior member of the AAP family and his elder brother.
He noted that Jain’s insights and advice were sought on organizational matters in Punjab, and his return to active duty following bail is expected to strengthen the party’s organizational efforts. Bhardwaj also mentioned an emotional reunion between Jain and his family, where he became teary-eyed during a meeting with his wife and daughter.
