Dhanbad, July 15: Authorities in Dhanbad, Jharkhand, were put on high alert after a bomb threat was received for the main post office and the regional passport office located within the same premises on Wednesday. The threat was communicated via an anonymous email, prompting police to evacuate the area immediately and initiate a thorough search operation with the help of bomb disposal squads and dog units.
According to police reports, the email claimed that an explosion would occur at 1:15 PM in both the post office and passport office. The message also contained offensive religious comments and suggested the removal of individuals from a specific community. Security agencies are currently investigating the language of the email, its source, and the seriousness of the claims made.
Upon receiving the threat, teams from Dhanbad police and other security agencies quickly arrived at the scene. As a precaution, employees, applicants, and others present in the post office and passport office were safely evacuated. Additionally, adjacent offices, including the BSNL office and the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO), were also cleared to prevent any potential casualties in case of an incident.
Senior police officials are closely monitoring the situation at the site. The bomb disposal team and dog squad have begun a detailed inspection of the entire area, and searches are being conducted in the surrounding vicinity for any suspicious objects.
