Rain and Thunderstorms Hit Rajasthan, Alerts Issued in 22 Districts

Jaipur, 27 January (Udaipur Kiran) – The weather in Rajasthan has changed once again as several districts, including Jaipur, Alwar, Sawai Madhopur, and Sikar, experienced intermittent rainfall since Tuesday morning. Before the rain began, many areas were hit by dust storms, signaling a sudden shift in weather conditions.

The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for thunderstorms and rain in 10 districts, and a yellow alert in 12 other districts across the state.

In Jaipur city, light drizzle started early in the morning, followed by a brief spell of heavy rain lasting about ten minutes. The rain was accompanied by chilly winds, causing a drop in temperature and increasing the cold sensation. This is the second spell of rain in five days, raising concerns among farmers about potential damage to standing crops in the fields. However, the rainfall has provided some relief from the severe cold for residents.

On Monday, clouds covered several districts in the Bikaner, Jaipur, and Bharatpur divisions during the afternoon, weakening the cold winds. Maximum temperatures rose, with Pali recording the highest temperature in the state at 27.5 degrees Celsius.

Radheshyam Sharma, Director of the Jaipur Meteorological Centre, stated that dense fog and cold winds are expected in many districts on 28 and 29 January, which may reduce visibility. He also mentioned that a new western disturbance will become active from 31 January, bringing cloudy skies and light rain to various parts of the state on 31 January and 1 February.

On Tuesday morning, Alwar saw light rain followed by dense fog, reducing visibility to less than 30 meters. Sikar experienced heavy rain accompanied by cold winds, intensifying the chill.

In Sawai Madhopur’s Chauth Ka Barwara region, heavy rain caused water to flow through the streets. Jaipur witnessed heavy rain and cold winds, increasing the impact of the cold weather.

On Monday, minimum temperatures in most cities remained below 10 degrees Celsius due to cold winds. Fatehpur recorded 0.1 degrees Celsius, Sikar 0.5 degrees, Nagaur 1.1 degrees, Dausa 1.4 degrees, Lunkaransar 1.7 degrees, and Churu 2.7 degrees Celsius.
