Heavy Rain, Hailstorm Hit Rajasthan; Kotra Records Highest Rainfall

Udaipur, April 5 (Udaipur Kiran): Several parts of Rajasthan witnessed intense weather activity, including strong winds, rain, and hailstorms, causing significant disruption and crop damage in multiple districts.

Districts such as Sri Ganganagar, Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Jaipur, Ajmer, Rajsamand, Hanumangarh, and Nagaur reported the impact of heavy storms and hail. In many areas, large hailstones fell at high speed, making it difficult for people to step बाहर of their homes. Fields and roads were seen covered with a layer of ice, while standing and harvested crops suffered major losses.

In the past 24 hours, the highest rainfall in the state was recorded in Kotra area of Udaipur district at 32 mm. Other rainfall figures include 24 mm in Amer (Jaipur), 20 mm in Ajmer, 10 mm in Nasirabad, 20 mm in Rajgarh, and 10 mm each in Bharatpur, Kama, Deeg, Vair, Jamwaramgarh, Karanpur (Sri Ganganagar), and Suratgarh. Dausa recorded 15 mm rainfall, while several other regions received light showers.

The strong winds also caused damage in some areas, uprooting trees, electricity poles, and blowing away tin sheds.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a new and strong western disturbance is likely to become active from the afternoon of April 6 over parts of Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions. Its peak impact is expected on April 7, bringing thunderstorms, gusty winds of 50–60 kmph, moderate rainfall, and isolated hailstorms across divisions including Jodhpur, Bikaner, Ajmer, Jaipur, Bharatpur, and Kota.

On April 8, light to moderate rainfall is likely in parts of northern and eastern Rajasthan, while the rest of the state is expected to witness mostly dry weather.
