Rain and Thunderstorm Alert in 30 Rajasthan Districts: Weather to Heat Up Again from May 13

Jaipur, May 11, 2025 – After a sudden shift in weather conditions on Saturday afternoon, several regions of Rajasthan witnessed rainfall and thunderstorms, offering much-needed relief from soaring summer temperatures. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms and rain across 30 districts today, with 27 districts expected to receive similar weather on May 12. However, from May 13 onward, the weather system is likely to weaken and temperatures will start rising again, according to the latest IMD forecast.

Rainfall Across Cities, Relief from Heat

Rainfall was recorded in multiple cities including Bharatpur, Kota, Udaipur, Chittorgarh, Rajsamand, Jhalawar, and parts of Jaipur, bringing temporary respite from the heat.

  • In Bharatpur, thunderstorms were followed by light to moderate rain during the afternoon.

  • Kota witnessed steady rainfall at 3 PM for about 15 minutes.

  • Jaipur recorded a minimum temperature of 26.7°C on Friday night, with a clear morning on Saturday that later turned cloudy.

Other major cities reported the following minimum night temperatures:

  • Barmer – 26.6°C

  • Jaisalmer – 26.2°C

  • Karauli – 26.4°C

  • Phalodi – 28.2°C

  • Bikaner – 27.3°C

  • Churu – 25.1°C

  • Sri Ganganagar – 24.8°C

  • Udaipur – 24.9°C

  • Kota – 25.6°C

  • Ajmer – 23.3°C

Daytime highs remained below 40°C in most areas due to cloud cover and rain.

Rainfall Data: Nimbahera Receives Highest Rainfall

Rainfall was measured in several districts between May 9 and 10 (8 AM). The highest rainfall was recorded in Nimbahera (Chittorgarh) at 43 mm.

Other rainfall figures include:

  • Jaitaran (Pali) – 37 mm

  • Tibbi (Hanumangarh) – 30 mm

  • Bhoongra (Banswara) – 30 mm

  • Jwaja (Ajmer) – 25 mm

  • Kotda (Udaipur) and Kanawas (Kota) – 24 mm

  • Kishanganj (Baran) – 21 mm

  • Vijaynagar (Ganganagar) – 20 mm

Several towns reported moderate rainfall, including:

  • Falasiya – 17 mm

  • Dalot (Pratapgarh) – 15 mm

  • Banswara city and Sangod (Kota) – 11 mm

  • Pushkar, Gogunda, Ramganjmandi – 10 mm

  • Jhalawar city, Beawar – 9 mm

  • Dungarpur, Merta – 7 mm

  • Mount Abu – 7.4 mm

  • Arnod – 5 mm

  • Nainwa (Bundi) – 3 mm
