Udaipur, August 22: The ongoing Shiv Katha, ‘Apno Se Apni Baat, Bhole Nath Ke Saath’, at Narayan Seva Sansthan during the month of Sawan witnessed a devotional atmosphere on Saturday. Sansthan president Prashant Agrawal spoke about the glory of Lord Shiva and said that listening to Shiv Katha brings inner peace and happiness. He said devotion to Shiva teaches a person discipline, compassion and inner strength.
During the Katha, Agrawal narrated several episodes related to Lord Shiva, including the penance of Himavan and Maina, the birth of Goddess Parvati, her conversation with Narad, Parvati’s penance and the conversation between the gods and Kamdev. He then narrated the story of Kamdev being burnt by Lord Shiva.
Agrawal said that Kamdev was reduced to ashes when Lord Shiva opened his third eye. He said the episode remains relevant in modern life as well. Kamdev can be seen as a symbol of uncontrolled desires, greed and inner vices. When a person awakens the third eye of knowledge and wisdom within, he can overcome attachment and such negative tendencies.
He said Lord Shiva’s message is that giving the right direction to one’s desires through wisdom and self-control is the real spiritual practice.
Divyang persons, their family members and other devotees took part in the Katha with devotion. The premises echoed with chants of “Har Har Mahadev” during the programme.
