New Delhi : The entire North and Central India is in the grip of a severe heat wave and there will be, according to Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), no respite from soaring mercury till Sunday (May 27). Heat wave conditions are very likely to persist over parts of Northwest India and Central India during next 3-4 days. The India Meteorological Department has sounded a red-coded alert for Haryana, Rajasthan and west Uttar Pradesh. On Thursday, Heat wave conditions were observed at some parts over Madhya Pradesh; at one or two pockets over Rajasthan and Haryana. Thunderstorm observed at isolated places over Uttarkhand, Assam and Meghalaya, Madhya Pradesh, Tripura, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telengana, North Interior Karnataka, Tamilnadu and puducherry, Lakshadweep and Kerala from 1130 hours IST of Thursday to 0530 hours IST of today. Temperatures, more than 40 degree Celsius were recorded in most parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Telangana. Heat wave conditions also prevailed over many parts of Gujarat region, some parts of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal. Heavy rain at isolated places is also forecast in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya.
