Akbarpur, Firozabad, September 11 (Udaipur Kiran) : Uttar Pradesh’s Tourism Minister, Jaiveer Singh, announced on September 10 that the birthplace of Neem Karoli Baba in Akbarpur, Firozabad, will be transformed into a grand pilgrimage site. Over the past three years, the government has allocated significant funds and acquired 2.24 acres of land for this purpose. The initiative will also include the creation of the “Neem Karoli Maharaj Circuit,” which will connect his birthplace with his meditation site in Farrukhabad and his samadhi in Vrindavan.
Minister Singh emphasized the importance of Neem Karoli Baba’s message of simplicity, dedication, and spirituality for society. He noted the government’s commitment to developing the site as a major religious and tourist destination. For the fiscal year 2023-24, the government has earmarked ₹8.62 crore for the development of the birthplace, with additional funds allocated for subsequent years.
Plans are underway to enhance tourism infrastructure and basic facilities at the site. The minister also mentioned proposals to upgrade National Highway NH-2, which connects Delhi to Kolkata, to a four-lane road to improve accessibility to the pilgrimage site.
In addition to the Akbarpur birthplace, the government is also focusing on the nearby meditation site and the Vrindavan samadhi, integrating all three locations into the new tourism circuit. This initiative aims to facilitate easy access for devotees and promote the teachings of Neem Karoli Baba to a wider audience. Singh expressed hope that the project would enable a large number of pilgrims to visit the sites, pay their respects, and draw inspiration from Baba’s life and teachings.
