New Delhi, September 10 (Udaipur Kiran) : Prince Rahim Aga Khan V, the 50th hereditary Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims and Chairman of the Aga Khan Development Network, met with President Droupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday. During their conversation, President Murmu commended the work of the Aga Khan Development Network, highlighting its role in improving the quality of life through collaboration with the government.
The President’s Secretariat shared the meeting details on the social media platform X, stating, “Prince Rahim Aga Khan V met with President Droupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. The President praised the initiatives of the Aga Khan Development Network, which demonstrate how non-profit organizations can enhance people’s lives when working in partnership with the government.”
Earlier in the day, Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan also held discussions with Aga Khan, focusing on strengthening cooperation between India and the Aga Khan Development Network in various sectors, including sports and education. Both leaders reiterated the need to eliminate extremism and emphasized that dialogue is essential for peace, stability, and shared prosperity.
The Vice President’s office later posted on X, “Prince Rahim Aga Khan V met with Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan at the Vice President’s residence. They discussed the contributions of the Aga Khan Development Network in water and sanitation, women-led self-help groups, education, and community development, as well as its impactful work in East Africa and Afghanistan.”
Following these meetings, Prince Rahim Aga Khan V also met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi to explore ways to deepen collaboration between India and the Aga Khan Development Network in healthcare, agriculture, rural development, and youth and women empowerment. After the meeting, PM Modi expressed his pleasure in meeting the Prince and reflected on the significant contributions of his late father, Aga Khan IV, to development work.
