Pune, September 10 (Udaipur Kiran) : Pune’s Additional Police Commissioner Sarang Awad announced that 31 cases have been filed against Ganesh mandals and DJ operators for violating noise pollution regulations during the Dahi-Handi celebrations. He emphasized that strict actions will continue during the upcoming Ganesh festival.
In a press briefing, Commissioner Awad explained that sound readings were taken during the Dahi-Handi event. Whenever the noise limits were exceeded, appropriate measures were enforced. He stated, “We have taken action against the officials and DJ operators, and so far, 31 cases have been registered. The police will continue to enforce these regulations.”
According to Maharashtra government guidelines, permissible noise levels range from 40 decibels to 75 decibels, varying between day and night. The areas are categorized into four zones: silence zones, residential zones, commercial zones, and industrial zones, with industrial zones allowed the highest noise levels and silence zones limited to 40 decibels. The police will also take action regarding laser lights used during the festivities.
Awad further mentioned that preparations for the Ganesh festival are in full swing. Meetings have been held with workers, officials, and DJ owners to ensure they understand the rules and regulations.
