Bhivadi, September 9 (Udaipur Kiran) : The municipal elections in Rajasthan’s Khairthal-Tijara district were conducted peacefully on September 9, 2026. Voting took place in three municipal councils: Bhivadi, Khairthal, and Tijara, with polls closing at 6 PM. Apart from a few minor incidents, there were no significant disturbances reported.
According to the district control room, the voter turnout in the district reached 80.25%. A total of 140 wards had 136,426 registered voters, and 109,488 of them exercised their right to vote.
Tijara municipality recorded the highest voter turnout, while Bhivadi, known for its industrial base, saw the lowest participation. In Bhivadi, out of 65,435 registered voters in 60 wards, 48,085 cast their votes, resulting in a turnout of 73.49%. Voter queues were observed from morning, although the heat slowed down the pace during the afternoon; however, turnout picked up again in the evening.
In Khairthal, where voting was held for 45 wards, 41,652 out of 48,786 registered voters participated, achieving a turnout of 85.38%, significantly above the district average.
Tijara municipality exhibited the most enthusiasm, with 88.95% of its 22,205 registered voters casting their ballots; 19,751 votes were recorded here.
The district administration implemented robust security measures to ensure peaceful voting, deploying police forces at all polling stations and enhancing arrangements in sensitive areas. An awareness campaign was conducted beforehand to encourage voter participation, which reflected positively in the turnout.
All eyes are now on September 14, when the counting of votes will take place at the headquarters of the three municipal councils, and results will be announced the same day, determining the future governance of these towns.
