Hailstorm Alert in 7 Districts of Madhya Pradesh, Thunderstorms and Rain Expected in Half the State

Bhopal, March 20 : The weather in Madhya Pradesh has taken a drastic turn with two active weather systems influencing the region. As a result, several parts of the state are expected to witness thunderstorms and rain from March 20 to 22. The meteorological department has issued a hailstorm alert for seven districts, including Mandla, Balaghat, Sidhi, and Singrauli, over the next two days. Additionally, strong winds, thunderstorms, and light rain are expected in nearly half of the state, including Bhopal and Jabalpur.

Weather Systems Affecting Madhya Pradesh

According to the meteorological department, two cyclonic circulation systems are currently active, leading to the sudden weather change. A trough line is also passing through the state, along with an active western disturbance. These systems are expected to trigger a spell of rainfall across the region.

On Wednesday, the impact of these weather changes was already visible in districts like Narmadapuram, Betul, Harda, Guna, Ashoknagar, Singrauli, Sidhi, Mauganj, Shahdol, Umaria, Dindori, Katni, Mandla, and Maihar, where cloudy skies and light showers were reported. Bhopal also witnessed overcast conditions. The state is likely to experience similar weather until March 22, after which temperatures in the eastern region may drop by 2-3 degrees Celsius. By March 25, summer temperatures are expected to rise across the state.

Hailstorm and Rainfall Alerts

  • March 21: Hailstorms are expected in Mandla, Balaghat, Shahdol, Sidhi, Singrauli, and Mauganj. Other districts such as Bhopal, Vidisha, Sehore, Harda, Betul, Narmadapuram, Sagar, Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Jabalpur, Damoh, Chhatarpur, Panna, Satna, Rewa, Maihar, Katni, Umaria, Dindori, and Anuppur may experience thunderstorms, strong winds, and light rain.
  • March 22: An orange alert has been issued for Mauganj, Sidhi, Singrauli, Shahdol, Seoni, Mandla, and Balaghat, forecasting hailstorms, thunderstorms, and strong winds. Meanwhile, thunderstorms, gusty winds, and light rain are also expected in Jabalpur, Chhatarpur, Panna, Satna, Rewa, Maihar, Damoh, Sagar, Katni, Umaria, Dindori, Anuppur, Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Betul, Narmadapuram, Raisen, Vidisha, Sehore, and Harda.
  • March 23: Light drizzles and cloudy skies are predicted in Satna, Rewa, Mauganj, Sidhi, Singrauli, Maihar, Shahdol, Anuppur, Dindori, Mandla, and Balaghat.
