WhatsApp for Android has now started testing a new feature that’s been in the works for several months: marking all chats as read. Even though inaccessible to beta testers, the feature is now being handed out to a few users via the latest Android beta update for the messaging platform. It is the latest beta features on the platform to be rolled out to testers along with the ability to block messages from unknown accounts, while other theming improvements are still in the works.

WhatsApp Begins Testing ‘Read All’ Feature
First reported by feature tracker WABetaInfo, the in-development feature looks to better the chatting experience that WhatsApp users will have at their end. Gadgets 360 updated WhatsApp beta for Android to version 2.24.20.19 to confirm that the functionality was working as intended, allowing a user to clear his unread message count by marking all messages received ‘read’.
The Read all button from the overflow menu is accessed by tapping on the three dot menu. Tapping on Read all will mark all the chats in the list as read, therefore saving you the trouble of first selecting all chats and then clicking on Mark as read.
This feature is going to be rolled out to all users on the update channel stable with an update of the future. Currently, it is available in Android for beta testers, but the iOS user may have to wait for some time to see this feature.
Note that although beta developers test many features, not all the features reach the public version of the application. Therefore, the appearance of the feature on beta testers’ handsets is a sign that the feature is likely to roll out to all users during the coming months.
