Aligarh, September 12 (Udaipur Kiran) : Maulana Chaudhary Ibrahim Hussain, the chief mufti of the royal court, expressed optimism regarding the Allahabad High Court’s recent decision in the ongoing mosque dispute in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. He welcomed the court’s interim relief to the mosque committee, which has temporarily halted the recovery of over six crore rupees in compensation related to the demolition of the mosque situated in the Saharanpur collectorate.
The single bench of Justice Rohit Ranjan Agarwal issued this order while hearing a petition filed by Mohammad Tanveer. The next hearing is scheduled for October 12.
In a conversation in Aligarh, Maulana Hussain noted that the Allahabad High Court has accepted the petition concerning the mosque’s demolition and requested a response from the state government. He expressed gratitude towards the court, stating that such actions enhance public trust in the judiciary. He acknowledged the relief provided by the court, considering the circumstances surrounding the case.
However, he raised concerns about the mosque committee’s handling of the situation, suggesting that they displayed negligence. He criticized the committee for not approaching the higher court immediately after the lower court’s decision, instead opting for district-level discussions. He pointed out that the committee failed to present crucial evidence before the court, reflecting their lack of diligence.
As the next hearing approaches on October 12, Maulana Hussain remains hopeful, citing the initial relief granted by the court as a positive sign. He asserted that the committee possesses relevant facts and documents regarding the mosque’s ownership and rights, which have long been held by local Muslims. He firmly believes that the court will ultimately rule in favor of reconstructing the mosque.
