Jaipur, May 12, 2026 (Udaipur Kiran) — The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Intelligence Unit, Udaipur, has arrested Shekhar Mathuria, Senior Assistant in the State Insurance and Provident Fund Department, Udaipur, while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh in connection with passing a death claim.

According to ACB Director General of Police Govind Gupta, the bureau had received a complaint stating that the accused demanded money for approving the state insurance death claim of the complainant’s niece, who was a government teacher, and for clearing deficiencies to secure a higher claim amount.
The complaint alleged that the accused initially demanded Rs 7.5 lakh. During verification of the complaint on May 11, 2026, the deal was reportedly settled at Rs 1.5 lakh.
On May 12, the accused was caught red-handed while allegedly accepting Rs 1 lakh as the first instalment of the agreed bribe amount.
The trap operation was conducted under the supervision of ACB Deputy Inspector General of Police Dr Rameshwar Singh. The action was led by Dr Sonu Shekhawat, Police Inspector and in-charge of ACB Intelligence Unit, Udaipur.
ACB officials said further questioning and investigation are underway under the supervision of Additional Director General of Police Smita Srivastava and Inspector General of Police S. Parimala.
A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered, and further investigation is in progress.
