Dubai, September 13 (Udaipur Kiran) : India has posted a formidable total of 183 runs for the loss of five wickets in the Women’s Asia Cup final against Sri Lanka, held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on September 13, 2026. Winning the toss and opting to bat first, the Indian team got off to a sensational start.
Shefali Verma and Smriti Mandhana forged a remarkable partnership, accumulating 129 runs for the first wicket in just 12.5 overs. This partnership not only set the tone for the innings but also established a new record for the highest partnership in the history of the Women’s T20 Asia Cup. Shefali reached her half-century in a blistering 24 balls, becoming the fastest to achieve this milestone in the tournament. She ended her innings with a powerful score of 68 runs off 39 balls, including nine fours and two sixes.
Mandhana also exhibited her batting prowess, scoring 59 runs with the help of five fours and three sixes. However, captain Harmanpreet Kaur, batting at number three, struggled to make an impact and was dismissed for 14 runs. Richa Ghosh faced difficulties as well, managing only 17 runs from 13 balls.

For Sri Lanka, captain Chamari Athapaththu took one wicket for 34 runs in her four overs, while Mithali Ayodhya and Chamudi Prabodha each claimed a wicket, conceding 33 and 40 runs, respectively. Both teams made one change to their playing XI for the final, with Sri Lanka bringing in Vishmi Gunaratne in place of Kavindi.
