Abhishek Sharma Confident in Teams Aggressive Batting Style

New Delhi, September 14 (Udaipur Kiran) : Indian opener Abhishek Sharma has expressed confidence that the team’s aggressive batting identity will remain intact despite any setbacks. His comments came after a blistering innings of 82 runs off just 32 balls in the first T20 match against Afghanistan.

Sharma emphasized that a couple of poor performances should not dictate the team’s approach to the game. “The Indian team has always trusted in playing fearless and positive cricket, so evaluations based on a few disappointing results are not fair,” he stated.

His explosive fifty, achieved in just 22 balls, laid the foundation for India’s impressive seven-wicket victory, as the team chased down a target of 157 runs with ease, losing only three wickets in 13.4 overs. Reflecting on the team’s strategy, Sharma recalled, “Two years ago, we decided how we wanted to play, and we aim to dominate all teams leading up to the World Cup. For us, especially as batters, it’s crucial to give a solid start, particularly on such pitches.”

In addition to his batting contributions, Sharma showcased his fielding skills, taking a stunning catch at slip to dismiss Rahmanullah Gurbaz without scoring in the very first over. He noted that catching early in the innings boosts confidence, adding, “We started our innings in that manner today, and I’m very pleased.”

Discussing his experience fielding while Jasprit Bumrah bowled, Sharma acknowledged the need for constant vigilance when facing such a premier fast bowler, even during practice. “In T20 cricket, facing him in the nets feels like playing the early overs of a Test match. Being alert in the slips is always important,” he concluded.
