Russia Claims Control Over Large Ukrainian Territories; Kyiv Loses Over 1,350 Soldiers

Moscow, October 8 (Udaipur Kiran): Russia’s Defence Ministry has claimed that its forces have taken control of significant areas in Ukraine during recent operations, including the liberation of two villages in the Donetsk People’s Republic and the Zaporizhzhia region. Senior military officials said Russia now controls a vast portion of Ukrainian territory and continues to maintain strategic dominance on the battlefield.

According to reports from Russia’s state news agency TASS and Arab News, the Defence Ministry stated on Tuesday that Russian troops, under the ongoing “special military operation,” liberated the settlements of Fyodorovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic and Novovasilyevskoye in the Zaporizhzhia region.

President Vladimir Putin announced that Russian forces have captured nearly 5,000 square kilometres of Ukrainian territory this year and retained full strategic control. Addressing top military commanders, he said Ukrainian troops are retreating from all frontline positions. He added that Kyiv’s attempts to expand attacks into Russian territory will not change the course of the war, now in its fourth year. Putin also revealed that around 212 settlements have been “liberated” this year.

Chief of the Russian General Staff, General Valery Gerasimov, said Russian forces are advancing on all fronts. Updated battle data indicates that over the past 24 hours alone, Ukraine lost more than 1,355 soldiers in clashes across multiple frontline sectors.

The Russian Defence Ministry further reported heavy losses for Ukraine, including the destruction of tanks, armoured vehicles, jamming stations, artillery units, assault and mechanised brigades, and eight ammunition depots. Moscow claimed that its forces have inflicted severe damage on Ukrainian military capabilities.
