Beijing, June 6: Thongloun Sisoulith, General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and President of Laos, stated in an interview with China Media Group (CMG) in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, that the China-Laos Railway has significantly contributed to the national development of Laos.
According to him, this railway has completely transformed Laos and fulfilled the dreams of the Lao people.
Reflecting on the inauguration ceremony of the China-Laos Railway held on December 3, 2021, President Thongloun recalled, “On that day, Chinese President Xi Jinping said that mountains are no longer so high and roads are no longer so long.”
Thongloun emphasized that this railway has emerged as the “golden railway” of the Lao people’s dreams.
He noted that while Laos is a landlocked country, it now has a railway that connects it to the sea. He added that previously, Laos had no railway system, but now it boasts a modern high-speed railway, which has instilled a sense of pride among the Lao people.
