
Jaipur : Rajasthan is bracing for heavy rainfall, which is expected to continue today. An orange alert for heavy rain has been issued for three districts in the state, while a yellow alert is in place for seven others. Due to the anticipated heavy downpour, schools in Bhilwara, Tonk, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Barmer, Balotra, and Kekri have been declared closed.
According to the Jaipur Meteorological Center, extremely heavy rainfall is expected to begin this evening. An orange alert has been issued for nine districts in Kota and Udaipur divisions for tomorrow, August 4, indicating the likelihood of extremely heavy rainfall. So far this monsoon season, Rajasthan has received 12% more rainfall than the average. From June 1 to August 2, the average rainfall in Rajasthan is 227.1 mm, while this season has already recorded 254.1 mm.
In the last 24 hours, Bikaner, Barmer, Nagaur, Pali, Jodhpur, and Jalore have experienced heavy rainfall. Kolayat in Bikaner recorded 195 mm (nearly 8 inches) of rainfall. Earlier, between Thursday night and Friday morning, Khajuwala in Bikaner recorded 195 mm (nearly 8 inches) of rainfall. Following the weather center’s alert, schools in seven districts of the state have been declared closed. District collectors have issued orders to keep government and private schools in Bikaner, Barmer, Bhilwara, Tonk, Kekri, Balotra, and Jaisalmer closed today. Schools in Jaipur and Bikaner city were also closed on Friday.
A low-pressure system formed over Jharkhand is gradually moving towards Madhya Pradesh. Due to its impact, a heavy to very heavy rainfall alert has been issued for MP and Rajasthan. Radheshyam Sharma, Director of the Jaipur Meteorological Center, said that due to the impact of this low-pressure system, heavy rainfall activities will begin in some parts of southeastern Rajasthan from August 3.
The system’s maximum impact is expected to be seen on August 4 and 5. On August 4, one or two places may receive 200 mm or more (8 inches or more) of rainfall. He said that the impact of this system may be seen in some parts of Jaipur, Ajmer, Jodhpur, and Bikaner divisions during August 4-6, leading to heavy and very heavy rainfall in some areas.
The Jaipur Meteorological Center has issued an orange alert for heavy rainfall in Kota, Baran, and Jhalawar districts today, while a yellow alert for heavy rain has been issued for Bundi, Sawai Madhopur, Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Pratapgarh, Dungarpur, and Banswara districts.
