Rainfall Slows Down in Rajasthan; Yellow Alert Issued for Nine Districts on Sunday

Jaipur, August 2 — After days of heavy monsoon activity, rainfall across Rajasthan slowed down on Saturday, with mostly clear skies observed over districts in Jaipur, Ajmer, Jodhpur, Udaipur, and Kota divisions. However, with partial sunlight, humidity and discomfort levels increased in several areas. Light showers were recorded at isolated places in Sri Ganganagar, Churu, Kota, and Pilani.

Rainfall

According to the Jaipur Meteorological Centre, a yellow alert has been issued for nine districts — Sikar, Jhunjhunu, Jaipur, Alwar, Bharatpur, Karauli, Dholpur, Dausa, and Sawai Madhopur — for Sunday, August 3.

The Met department noted that the monsoon trough has now shifted northwards, passing through Firozpur, Ambala, Shahjahanpur, Barabanki, and Gorakhpur, reducing rainfall intensity in the coming days. However, rainfall activity is expected to increase again in parts of northeast Rajasthan, particularly in Bharatpur and Jaipur divisions, starting August 3. On August 4, isolated areas in and around Bharatpur division may experience very heavy rainfall.

Several rain-related incidents have also been reported. On Friday night, an elderly couple died when a mud house collapsed in Deewli’s Bouraj village, Bhusawar (Bharatpur district). In Nokha, Bikaner, two houses caved into a 30-foot-deep crater, while a house collapsed in Hanumangarh, leaving locals in fear.

As per rainfall data from the past 24 hours, the highest rainfall was recorded in Chhipabarod (Baran district) with 24 mm, followed by Lalgarh with 14 mm, Kotri with 10 mm, and 6 mm each in Pilani and Malarna Dungar.

Monsoon Favourable Across the State

The monsoon has been generous to Rajasthan this year. Between June 1 and August 1, 2025, the state recorded 403 mm of rainfall — 94% of the season’s average rainfall of 424 mm. Compared to the 217 mm rainfall during the same period last year, this is an 85% increase.

Data from 714 rain gauge stations across the state reflects strong water collection this year. Due to the good monsoon, 260 dams in the state have reached full capacity. Out of these, water levels are continuing to rise in 202 dams, and controlled water release is being carried out with public advisories to ensure safety.
