Jodhpur, August 2 — The Ahmedabad-Jodhpur Vande Bharat Express collided with two camels in Rajasthan’s Pali district on Friday night, causing significant damage to the front portion of the train’s engine. The impact was so intense that blood was scattered across the tracks, and the train came to a halt for 15 to 20 minutes. The incident triggered panic among passengers due to the sudden jolt.

The collision occurred near kilometre marker 528/10 close to Mori Bera railway station under the Ajmer railway division. Though passengers confirmed the incident upon reaching Jodhpur, railway officials have refrained from commenting.
According to passengers on board, the crash was severe enough to completely shatter the engine’s cattle guard, creating a deep dent. The sudden jerk frightened passengers, but all coach doors remained locked, preventing anyone from getting off. A few crew members and passengers exited the train through the staff access between the engine and the coaches and later informed others on board.
After a preliminary inspection, the train resumed its journey. The damaged engine part (rake) was sent to Jaipur for repairs. For now, the Vande Bharat Express on this route is operating with an alternate rake.
