Hyderabad, September 12 (Udaipur Kiran) : K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), the working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), has launched a scathing attack on Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and the state’s Director General of Police (DGP) following the filing of sexual harassment cases against BRS legislators and MLCs.
In a post on X, KTR stated, “The Chief Minister has instructed the police to file sexual harassment cases against BRS legislators and MLCs over an altercation at the assembly entry point! This is a shocking misuse of the law. We will certainly contest these baseless cases in court.”
KTR further questioned the DGP about the allegations of harassment against Congress leaders during the Miss World competition in Hyderabad, asking, “What has happened to the accusations against the Congress leaders who misbehaved with Miss England? Will Telangana police continue to shield the accused? Do you have any answers, Mr. Rahul Gandhi?”
Earlier, KTR had accused the Congress government in Telangana of including over one crore acres of land in the restricted land list under Section 22A. He made these claims during a meeting with affected landowners at the BRS headquarters, Telangana Bhavan. KTR asserted that only 16 lakh acres were on the restricted list during the BRS government’s tenure, but this figure has surged to 1 crore 16 lakh acres under the new administration.
The BRS has previously demanded the removal of Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, alleging that the government has arbitrarily frozen private properties under Section 22A. This section grants the state government the authority to halt the registration of certain land and property documents.
The main opposition party accused the government of misusing the revenue and registration system to arbitrarily include private properties under Section 22A. BRS leaders contend that the intent of this section is solely to prevent the registration of legally restricted properties, not to create artificial ownership disputes over legitimate private properties or obstruct lawful transactions by citizens.
KTR claimed that individuals from various regions have informed him that they faced no issues with their lands during the BRS government, but encroachments began after the Congress came to power. He alleged that the suspension of BRS legislators from the assembly was due to impending revelations about the Chief Minister’s alleged irregularities.
