Jaipur, April 25 (Udaipur Kiran): In a first in its 45-year history, the luxury train Palace on Wheels will operate in the peak summer month of May, offering tourists a special tour of Rajasthan.

A nationalised bank has chartered the entire train for its 84 members. The train will depart from Delhi on May 20 and reach Jaipur on the morning of May 21, where guests will receive a grand welcome.
During the Jaipur visit, tourists will be taken in Volvo buses to Albert Hall, Hawa Mahal, and City Palace. Lunch will be arranged at Lohagarh Resort. Keeping in mind the intense heat and hot winds, special arrangements such as lemon water, Glucon-D, and other cold beverages have been made for the guests.
The royal train began its journey on January 26, 1982, on metre gauge and was later converted to broad gauge. During the tour from May 21 to May 24, tourists will stay exclusively in the train’s luxury coaches.
Train spokesperson Hridayesh Chansoniya and Head Chef Rajendra said the menu has been specially redesigned for summer. As part of the experience, travellers will be served region-specific cooling delicacies at different stops, including aam panna in Sawai Madhopur, chilled rose kheer in Chittorgarh, thandai in Udaipur, and orange Glucon-D in Jaisalmer. Jaipur’s famous lassi, kulfi, and falooda will also be offered.
Bhagat Singh, Director of ETSPL (Lohagarh), said that with rising tensions in the Middle East affecting tourism, this off-season charter tour in May is expected to provide a boost to Rajasthan’s tourism industry.
