Udaipur, April 25 (Udaipur Kiran): A case of eve-teasing involving a student has been reported in the Surajpol police station area near Delhi Gate, raising concerns over women’s safety in the city.

According to the complaint, the incident occurred when the student was returning from coaching classes. Two miscreants on a scooter allegedly used objectionable language and attempted inappropriate behaviour with her. On spotting a traffic police personnel nearby, the accused fled from the spot.
The student showed presence of mind by noting down the scooter number and immediately informed the traffic police personnel stationed at Delhi Gate. She later reached Surajpol police station with her father and lodged a formal complaint.
Station House Officer Ratan Singh said that based on the complaint and the vehicle number provided, efforts are underway to trace the accused. One suspect has also been detained for questioning.
The incident has raised concerns as Udaipur is a major tourist city, and such cases of harassment in public places are seen as damaging to the city’s image. Police are expected to ensure a safe environment for women in the city.
