On this day, sisters tie a protective thread on their brothers’ wrists, ensuring they stand as their shield. This year, excitement is high among people for Raksha Bandhan, which falls on August 28. However, auspicious timings for tying Rakhi are also considered important in tradition. Astrologer Pandit Shipra Sachdev shared insights on this matter.
Pandit Sachdev mentioned that this year, the Bhadrakali period will end on August 27, meaning there will be no shadow of Bhadrakali on Raksha Bandhan day. Thus, Rakhi can be tied throughout the day without any hindrance.
She also noted that there will be a lunar eclipse on this day, but it will not be visible in India, so its ‘sutik’ period will not be applicable, and it will not have a direct impact. However, from an astrological perspective, a lunar eclipse can have some negative effects on horoscopes.
To mitigate these negative effects, she suggested a special remedy. On Raksha Bandhan, the first protective thread should be tied to Lord Shiva, who holds poison and the moon on his head, thus dispelling negativity. Following this, the second thread should be tied to Lord Vishnu, and the third to one’s guru, before tying Rakhi to the brother. The astrologer believes that adhering to this sequence can eliminate financial and expenditure-related issues while bringing positivity to the brother-sister relationship.
Regarding auspicious timings, the good time for Raksha Bandhan begins early in the morning. The first auspicious moment will last until 7:30 AM, followed by another favorable time from 9:25 AM to 10:30 AM, which is considered highly auspicious for tying Rakhi.
The astrologer advised people to avoid tying Rakhi during the Rahu Kaal, which will occur from 10:30 AM to 12:20 PM. Additionally, there will be another good time from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM, after which Rakhi can be tied throughout the day.
