Udaipur: Passenger traffic at Maharana Pratap Airport, Udaipur, has recorded strong growth over the past three financial years, with 3,15,996 additional passengers travelling through the airport between FY2023-24 and FY2025-26.
According to the latest figures from the Airports Authority of India (AAI), passenger traffic increased from 15,03,535 in FY2023-24 to 18,19,531 in FY2025-26, registering growth of around 21 per cent.
Udaipur ranks 33rd among India’s top 50 airports
The increase in passenger traffic has also improved Udaipur airport’s position in the national ranking. The airport, which ranked 34th in FY2023-24, moved up to 33rd in FY2025-26.
Among Rajasthan’s airports, Jaipur ranked 13th, Udaipur 33rd and Jodhpur 48th nationally.
1.68 lakh passengers added in one year
Udaipur airport recorded 16,50,607 passengers in FY2024-25. The figure rose to 18,19,531 in FY2025-26, an increase of 1,68,924 passengers in a year.
This represents annual growth of around 10.2 per cent.
The three major Rajasthan airports—Jaipur, Udaipur and Jodhpur—together handled 85,37,232 passengers in FY2025-26. Jaipur accounted for 65.91 per cent of the combined traffic, followed by Udaipur at 21.31 per cent and Jodhpur at around 12.77 per cent.
Udaipur outpaces several Tier-2 cities
Udaipur’s airport has also performed strongly compared with several non-metro and Tier-2 airports. With 18.19 lakh passengers, Maharana Pratap Airport handled more passengers than Bhopal’s Raja Bhoj Airport, which recorded 15.81 lakh passengers.
Udaipur also recorded higher passenger traffic than Surat Airport at 18.14 lakh and Vadodara Airport at 12.98 lakh. Passenger traffic at Port Blair’s Veer Savarkar Airport stood at 18.16 lakh.
Large gap between Rajasthan’s three airports
Jaipur airport remained well ahead of the other two Rajasthan airports, ranking 13th nationally with 56.27 lakh passengers.
Udaipur, at 33rd position, handled 18.19 lakh passengers, while Jodhpur ranked 48th with 10.90 lakh passengers. The difference between Udaipur and Jodhpur was around 7.28 lakh passengers.
Tourism and wedding season boost traffic
Udaipur’s status as a major tourism and wedding destination is among the factors contributing to the rise in air traffic. The city sees increased movement during the winter tourism season, particularly between October and March, when regular and charter flight activity also rises.
The comparison is based on financial years, with FY2023-24 covering April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024, and FY2025-26 covering April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026. The reported 21 per cent growth therefore reflects passenger traffic across these financial years, rather than a calendar-year comparison.
