June 25, 2025 — The monsoon has officially arrived in Haryana, bringing widespread rain and dark skies across the state. Ambala, Yamunanagar, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Panipat, and Hisar have already seen significant rainfall since Wednesday morning, while dark clouds loom over other districts including Jind, Jhajjar, and Bhiwani, where showers are also expected.

In Yamunanagar, continuous overnight rain has led to waterlogging up to two feet deep in several streets. Additionally, a cloudburst in Kala Amb, Himachal Pradesh, has raised the water level in the Markanda River flowing through Kurukshetra.
The monsoon arrived in Haryana five days ahead of its usual schedule — the normal onset date being June 29. According to meteorological records, this is the 14th time in 25 years that the monsoon has reached the state earlier than expected.
Statewide Monsoon in 36 Hours
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) expects the monsoon to cover the entire state within 36 hours. The forecast predicts rainfall over the next seven days, with an Orange Alert issued for June 25-26.
Currently, the monsoon trough runs from Bijnor in Uttar Pradesh through Karnal and Kaithal in Haryana. Moisture-laden winds from both the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal are contributing to the active weather system.
24-Hour Rainfall Update
In the past 24 hours, Haryana recorded an average rainfall of 5.9 mm, with Kurukshetra receiving the highest amount at 36 mm. Daytime temperatures have dropped noticeably — the average maximum temperature is now 1.6°C lower, and overall 4.3°C below normal for this time of year.
