Udaipur, August 25: Udaipur City BJP MLA Tarachand Jain has triggered controversy after referring to Khanjipir and Ayad areas of the city as “Mini Pakistan” during a BJP workers’ conference in the rural Assembly constituency.

Addressing the conference held at Ashish Vatika in Sector 14, Jain said Udaipur has two main routes leading into the city, one through Khanjipir and the other through the railway station. Referring to Khanjipir, he claimed that the area had become a “Mini Pakistan” and was allegedly being used as a shelter by criminals. He added that the situation had improved and that a DySP office had now been established there.

Jain further claimed that if crime figures from the Khanjipir police outpost for the past 10 years were obtained, the area would account for around 25 per cent of the crime. He made similar remarks about the Ayad area, saying that conditions there had also improved.

The BJP workers’ conference was organised at Sector 14 and was held from 11.30 am to 2.30 pm.

Referred to meeting with Governor Gulab Chand Kataria

During his address, Jain also referred to his meeting with Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria. He said he had recently met Kataria as part of protocol arrangements and that the Governor had praised the work carried out at Mukherjee Chowk.

Targeted Congress over municipal elections

Jain also criticised the Congress ahead of the municipal elections, claiming that the party would not be able to cross double digits in the city. He challenged Congress leaders to name even two wards where they were confident of winning.

The MLA said the BJP was preparing to win strongly across the major wards.
