New Delhi, December 2 (Udaipur Kiran).
Australian star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell announced on Tuesday that he will not participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 auction.
Maxwell was purchased by Punjab Kings for Rs 4.2 crore in the IPL 2025 auction. However, his performance in the previous season was not impressive. He scored only 78 runs in nine matches and took four wickets. A mid-finger fracture during the season forced him to withdraw from the tournament.
Maxwell, who made his IPL debut in 2012, had his best season in 2014 when he scored 542 runs. His subsequent performances include 310 runs in 2017, 513 runs in 2021, 301 runs in 2022, and 400 runs in 2023.
Announcing this major decision on Instagram, Maxwell wrote, “After many memorable seasons in the IPL, I have decided not to put my name in this year’s auction. This is a big decision, which I have taken while remembering the immense joy and experiences I received from the league.”
He further wrote, “The IPL has shaped me both as a player and as a person. I got the opportunity to play with world-class players, be part of amazing franchises, and perform in front of passionate Indian fans. These memories, these challenges, and India’s energy will always remain in my heart. Thank you all for the support over the years. Hope to meet again soon.”
