March 25, 2025 | New Delhi: As spring transitions to summer, Delhi-NCR is set to experience a significant rise in temperatures, with the maximum likely to touch 40°C in the coming days. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the capital is heading toward a hot and dry spell, although a temporary weather shift is expected due to an active Western Disturbance.

Temperature to Rise Sharply in Delhi
The IMD has forecast that Delhi’s maximum temperature may reach 38–40°C by March 26, while the minimum temperature is expected to hover between 17°C and 19°C. This marks a notable departure from the relatively mild conditions seen earlier in the month.
From March 27 to March 29, strong surface winds with speeds ranging between 20–30 km/h are expected to sweep across Delhi and NCR regions, adding to the dry heat but without any significant rainfall, the IMD clarified.
Weather Change Likely Due to Western Disturbance
While Delhi itself is unlikely to receive rain, Western Himalayan states including Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand are expected to experience thunderstorms, lightning, and moderate to heavy rainfall between March 25 and 28.
-
Jammu & Kashmir: Rain and thunderstorms likely from March 25–28, with heavy rainfall possible on March 26 at isolated locations.
-
Himachal Pradesh: Rain forecast from March 25–27
-
Uttarakhand: Showers expected between March 26–28

Punjab: Rain possible on March 26 and 27
These conditions in the northern hill states may bring a slight dip in temperatures in the plains, including Delhi-NCR, offering temporary relief from the soaring heat.
