Jaipur, March 29 – A cold wave sweeping in from northern India has brought down temperatures across Rajasthan, with several cities recording a drop of up to 7°C. Cities like Sriganganagar and Sikar witnessed maximum daytime temperatures fall below 30°C, providing temporary respite from the early summer heat.

Maximum Temperatures Dip Across Rajasthan
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), a significant cooling trend was observed across western Rajasthan. Barmer, Jaisalmer, and Jodhpur reported a decline of 2°C to 6°C in maximum temperatures, keeping them well below 35°C — a rare sight for this season in the desert state.
Alwar, Pilani, Sikar, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Bikaner, Churu, and Ganganagar were among the cities that experienced a sharp drop in day temperatures by 2°C to 7°C. Except for Bhilwara, most cities reported maximum temperatures under 36°C, thanks to continuous light breezes and clear skies during the past 24 hours.
Night Temperatures Also Take a Dip
Northern winds didn’t just cool the days — nights also turned chilly in many areas. Fathpur, near Sikar, reported the lowest minimum temperature at just 9.8°C, while Pali followed closely at 9.9°C. Other cities like Bikaner (14.8°C), Pilani, and Sikar (15.5°C) also recorded relatively cooler nights.
Even desert regions like Jaisalmer, Churu, and Ganganagar reported minimum temperatures under 20°C, signaling a brief return of winter-like conditions.
Weather Forecast: More Cool Days Before Heat Returns
The Jaipur Meteorological Centre has predicted that this cooling trend will continue for the next two days. Daytime and nighttime temperatures are expected to dip another 1°C to 2°C under the influence of cold northerly winds.
However, from April 1–2, winds are expected to shift from north to west. This shift is likely to trigger a gradual rise in both maximum and minimum temperatures across the state. Forecasters anticipate a 2–3°C increase in temperatures starting early next week.
