Shamli, August 31: Uttar Pradesh Police has taken major action in the murder case of Haryanvi singer and YouTuber Ankit Baliyan, killing two accused shooters in an encounter. The deceased suspects have been identified as Sumit and Mohit, according to police.
Police said four shooters were involved in Baliyan’s murder, while two others were allegedly involved in conducting reconnaissance. The four shooters were reportedly from Hisar and Rohtak in Haryana. Two have been killed in the police encounter, while efforts are underway to trace the remaining accused.
Singer Shot While Leaving Gym
According to police, Ankit Baliyan was shot dead at around 6:45 pm on Wednesday while leaving a gym in the Shamli Kotwali area. He was taken in a critical condition to a nearby community health centre, where doctors declared him dead.
A video of the attack has surfaced on social media, showing Baliyan leaving the gym and walking towards his car. Four attackers reportedly arrived on two motorcycles, opened fire and fled the spot. According to sources, the post-mortem report confirmed that Baliyan had suffered five bullet injuries, including two to the head.
CCTV Footage Helped Identify Suspects
Officials had said on Friday that teams of the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) and other police units were working to identify the four attackers with the help of CCTV footage.
Sources said CCTV footage from several locations in Shamli, Loni in Ghaziabad, Delhi and Sonipat showed four people fleeing on two motorcycles. Two of those suspects were subsequently killed in the encounter.
A murder case had been registered against four unidentified attackers on the complaint of Baliyan’s father, Satveer Singh.
From Kabaddi to Haryanvi Music
