New Delhi, September 1: The United States Ambassador to India, Sergio Gore, met with Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on August 31. The discussions focused on ongoing cooperation in energy and commerce, as well as enhancing security relations between the two nations. Prior to this meeting, Gore had engaged with Kyrgyzstan’s President Sadir Japarov in Bishkek.
In a post on the social media platform X, Ambassador Gore expressed, “Had a very productive meeting with President Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan. We discussed ongoing cooperation in energy and commerce and ways to strengthen security relations between our countries. We look forward to significant announcements between the US and Uzbekistan soon.”
According to information shared by Uzbek media, Gore congratulated Mirziyoyev and the people of Uzbekistan on the 35th anniversary of the country’s independence at the start of their meeting. He also conveyed greetings and best wishes from former US President Donald Trump.
Both parties positively assessed the momentum in bilateral relations, which includes political dialogue, inter-parliamentary and inter-regional connectivity, and the continuous expansion of trade, economic, and investment cooperation.
Special attention was given to the practical implementation of joint projects and initiatives, identifying priority areas such as energy, transportation, critical minerals, digital technology, AI, and agriculture.
Meanwhile, the US has expressed a desire to strengthen bilateral relations with Kyrgyzstan. Ambassador Gore stated, “I met with President Japarov of the Kyrgyz Republic in Bishkek. We have many excellent opportunities to work together for both our countries.”
He added that the US is looking forward to welcoming President Japarov next month, during which both nations will discuss furthering their growing partnership.
Discussions also included bilateral cooperation, investment, digital technology, and regional connectivity. Japarov is expected to visit the US in the near future. This meeting is considered significant in light of the increasing US engagement in Central Asia, with growing possibilities for collaboration in trade, investment, security, energy, and regional connectivity between the US and Kyrgyzstan.
It is noteworthy that the US is not a member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). Gore’s visit coincides with the 35th anniversary of Kyrgyzstan’s independence and the inauguration of the World Nomad Games.
