Lucknow, September 1: Priyanka Maurya, a member of the Uttar Pradesh State Women’s Commission, has targeted Akhilesh Yadav over allegations of fake and caste-based encounters, his promise to give ₹40,000 to women if elected, and his comments against the STF.
Speaking to IANS, Maurya questioned, “Who is talking about the respect of women? Akhilesh Yadav? He cannot even say a word for his wife, nor stand up for her dignity when someone makes absurd remarks about her. He sits quietly as if his mouth is sealed. He talks about giving ₹40,000; instead of that, women should get respect and rights.”
Maurya further stated, “Under Modi’s government, women are receiving respect. Today, women are being consulted, their rights are being discussed, and equal participation of women in Parliament and Assemblies is being talked about. Women have become a topic of discussion; whichever party they vote for will form the government.”
Responding to a statement by Samajwadi Party MLC Lal Bihari Yadav, Maurya remarked, “The leaders of the Samajwadi Party say that even if a dog is given a collar, it should win. Do all their party members fall into this category? If they give a ticket to a dog and it wins, will that dog develop the public and give ₹40,000 to women? The public will understand everything, listen, evaluate, and respond at the right time. Desperate to come to power, Akhilesh Yadav will be completely finished this time.”
She added, “Akhilesh Yadav claims that casteism is happening and encounters are being conducted based on caste. First, let me remind you that Shivpal Yadav recently said that when they come to power, Azam will be made Home Minister. All those who protect criminals are from the Samajwadi Party. Therefore, please look at the history of the encounters happening. Everyone should see that the encounters are completely justified; only criminals are being targeted.”
Regarding Akhilesh Yadav’s confusion over PDA, Maurya said, “He (Akhilesh Yadav) is completely confused. Sometimes he interprets PDA one way, and sometimes STF another. The national president of the Samajwadi Party and his entire party are confused about what to say, and they are just busy creating full forms for every word. These goons have no shame! The mindset and perspective with which they ran Uttar Pradesh, they want that era to return. They are extremely restless; their only concern is to do whatever it takes to come to power.”
On comments made by Maulana Sajid Rashidi, President of the All India Imam Association, Maurya stated, “There are many Islamic countries; how free do women feel there? How many atrocities are committed against those women daily? If you want to live in India, you must live according to the Constitution of India. This kind of drama and terrorist-like thinking will not work in India, as I have said before.”
Commenting on statements made by the Grand Mufti Sheikh Abubakar Ahmed regarding women, Maurya said, “This is India, and India runs according to its Constitution. The Constitution states that women and men should have equal rights. Therefore, those who make such statements have a mindset similar to that of terrorists, which is why they harbor such filthy thoughts about women. The way women are treated in their religion clearly shows that there is complete disorder in their religion, as the highest number of oppression cases come from their community. They believe that women should not receive equal participation at any social level because their thinking is very low and filthy.”
